Klazomenai and Teos
Surveys in the areas controlled by the cities of Klazomenai and Teos are being conducted by Yaşar Ersoy of Bilkent University.2007
In the Teos area the middle of the peninsula was surveyed with five kale settlements and ten tumuli in the north. In all, four cult places were identified.Several areas of the Klazomenai territory were covered this year, with Neolithic and Bronze Age sites identified in the Mandalan plain in the centre of the peninsula. In the Urla area construction is increasingly intruding on sites.
2006
Among the noteworthy sites was Sivritepe, the highest point overlooking the valley and Urla, where evidence of Byzantine occupation was found but there would also have been a Classical presence here. Further north, a tumulus was found on the top of Duatepe. It was associated with 6th century BC pottery and there were also remains of a Classical or Hellenistic enclosure wall. At Köytepe illicit digging has revealed considerable architectural material and Archaic and Classical pottery, while at Yarentepe, Klazomenai's northern limit, there was Late Geometric and 2nd millennium BC pottery, and the many pits made here by illegal diggers show evidence of a fortification wall and buildings.At Söğüt Mevkii, just at the border between Klazomenai and Teos, is a large rock-cut chamber. Strabo refers to a sacred place in a cave and this could be it. It would have been a cult place for Kybele. In Teos itself the water conduits to the north of the theatre were surveyed.

Teos bölgesinde, yarımadanın merkezi incelenmiş ve kuzey kısımda beş kale ile on tümülüs tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca dört kült alanı da belirlenmiştir.Bu yıl Klazomenai territorium’undaki bazı bölgelerde de çalışılmış; yarımada merkezindeki Mandalan Ovası’nda bazı Neolitik ve Tunç Çağı yerleşimleri belirlenmiştir. Urla civarındaki hızla artan inşaat çalışmaları sit alanlarına zarar vermektedir.
2006
Dikkate değer yerleşimler arasında, vadiyi en üst noktadan gören Sivritepe ile, Bizans iskanına ilişkin kanıtların yanı sıra, Klasik Dönemde de iskan edildiği düşünülen Urla sayılabilir. Daha kuzeydeki Duatepe üzerinde de bir tümülüs bulunmuştur. MÖ 6. yüzyıl keramikleriyle ilişkili olan tümülüste, Klasik ya da Helenistik Döneme tarihlenen bir çevre duvarına ait kalıntılar da mevcuttur. Köytepe’deki kaçak kazılarda çok miktarda mimari parça ile Arkaik ve Klasik dönemlere ait keramikler ortaya çıkmıştır. Klazomenai’nin kuzey sınırını oluşturan Yarentepe’de de Geç Geometrik Döneme ve MÖ 2. binyıla tarihlenen keramikler bulunmuştur; kaçak kazılar sonucu oluşan çukurlar ise bir tahkimat duvarı ile çeşitli yapıların varlığına işaret etmektedir.Klazomenai ile Teos’un sınırında yer alan Söğüt Mevkii’nde ana kayaya oyulmuş büyük bir mezar odası vardır. Strabo’nun bahsettiği kutsal alanın burası olduğu düşünülebilir. Burası, Kybele’ye adanmış bir kült mekanı olmalıdır. Teos’ta da, tiyatronun kuzeyinde yer alan su kanallarında çalışılmıştır.
