Domuztepe (Osmaniye)
Domuztepe is a hilltop settlement situated on the east bank of the Ceyhan river, across the river from the Neo-Hittite site of Karatepe. The lower slopes of the hill were flooded by the Arslantaş dam. Domuztepe was occupied in the Neolithic (Amuq A-B) and Chalcoilithic periods and had a Middle Bronze/Late Bronze occupation with casemate fortification walls of basalt. There was also a major Iron Age (Neo-Hittite) settlement, with buttressed basalt fortification walls, a gateway flanked by lion statues and large buildings. Many pieces of sculpture, including unfinished pieces, have been found. The site was investigated by Bahadır Alkım, and for the last twenty years has been excavated by a team led by Halet Çambel, in conjunction with her work at Karatepe.In 2005, there was no excavation at this site but restoration work on the sculpture continued. The museum/visitors centre, which contains material from sites flooded by the dam, as well as from Domuztepe and Karatepe, was opened.

Domuztepe, Ceyhan Irmağı’nın doğu kıyısında, Karatepe Neo-Hitit sitinin karşısında yer alan bir tepe üstü yerleşimidir. Tepenin alçak etekleri Arslantaş Barajı’nın suları altında kalmıştır. Domuztepe Neolitik (Amik A-B) ve Kalkolitik dönemlerde iskan edilmiş, daha sonra Orta/Geç Tunç Çağında etrafı bazalt içi boşluklu duvarlardan oluşan surlarla çevrili bir yerleşime sahne olmuştur. Önemli Demir Çağı (Neo-Hitit) yerleşimi ise pekitme ayaklı bazalt surlar, arslan heykelli bir şehir kapısı ve büyük yapılara sahiptir. Aralarında tamamlanmamış eserlerin de bulunduğu çok sayıda heykele rastlanmıştır. Sit Bahadır Alkım tarafından incelenmiş ve son yirmi yıldır kazılar, Karatepe’deki çalışmaları ile bağlantılı olarak Halet Çambel başkanlığında bir ekip tarafından gerçekleştirilmiştir.2005 yılında kazı çalışması yapılmamış, ancak heykeller üzerindeki restorasyon çalışmalarına devam edilmiştir. Baraj suları altında kalan çeşitli sitler ile Domuztepe ve Karatepe buluntularının sergilendiği bir müze / ziyaretçi merkezi açılmıştır.
